General Questions

Q1 What do I need to do to be able to play on the Rebels sports team?
  1. A student must be a full-time student at RRC Polytech in a full-time program. Please consult an RRC Polytech academic advisor to ensure you meet these requirements.

  2. The definition of a full-time student can vary from program to program and from student to student.

    1. The following four (4) exceptions apply;

      1. A student who has applied to a full-time RRC Polytech program or is required to complete post-secondary requirements prior to application to a full-time RRC program and is registered in those specific requirements will be allowed one year of participation on a varsity sport program by taking Continuing Education (CE) courses.

        1. A student who previously played on a varsity sport program and was registered in Continuing Education must have successfully completed 9 credit hours with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 in the last term of participation to be eligible under point (1).

      2. A student who is enrolled as a full-time student in a RRC Polytech CE program leading to a credential and has successfully completed 9 credit hours in each registered term in the academic year with a GPA of 2.0.

      4. A student who meets either criteria in 1, 2 or 3 above must take a minimum of 9 credit hours per term at RRC Polytech to be considered a full-time student. Credit hours will count in the term in which they are registered, i.e. a student who registers for classes in September, October, November or December will have these credit hours counted towards the Fall Term. To be eligible for the Winter Term students must register by January for 9 credit hours that start in January.

Q2 What are the courseload requirements to play on the Rebel’s team?
  1. The SA uses MCAC eligibility as a minimum standard for all sports. Please review the eligibility at https://mcacathletics.ca/documents/ In addition the following applies to RRC Polytech students who wish to compete on a varsity sport team.

    The MCAC requires that all athletes maintain Full-Time status from RRC Polytech. Full-Time status depends on the program but typically students must take a minimum of a 60% courseload. Students should always contact their academic advisor to confirm their courseload full-time status.
