The Rebels Varsity Athletics program represents a new era of student life at Red River College Polytechnic—built by students, for students.
Following feedback from more than 1,000 students, the Red River College Students’ Association (RRCSA) made the commitment to bring varsity athletics back to campus. With approval to rejoin the Manitoba Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC) for the 2026–2027 season, the Rebels are returning with a renewed focus on accessibility, community, and competitive excellence.
Unlike traditional athletic programs, Rebels Athletics is fully managed, operated, and funded by the Students’ Association. This student-led model ensures that athletics remain inclusive, accessible, and reflective of what students actually want—whether that’s competing at a high level or simply being part of a strong campus community.
The Rebels will initially field teams in men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, and cross country, with opportunities to expand in the future as the program grows. Home games will be free for students, reinforcing the goal of creating an energetic and unified campus experience.
More than just sports, the Rebels are about building pride, connection, and opportunity. From student-athletes and coaches to trainers, volunteers, and fans—this program belongs to the entire student body.
